Ok Kristy, you asked for it ;-)

I wasn't going to post this decidedly cartoonish, heinous creation, but it appears that Kristy has an appreciation for the ugly as much as I do (despite the fact that she makes the cutest animals on earth, which I can attest to, because I got my smoking possum set today and it is KILLER!!!! In fact, even better in person, which, often in my experience, is rather rare). This started out as an actual fish, one that exists in the deep. When I make fish, I find out as much information about it as I can, but I just jumped in on this one without doing any real research. You would assume, looking at the sheer hideosity and enormous head  and mouth (with the long fangs) that it would be pretty sizeable, but alas, it is actually a small ass fish!! The verdict? Never assume. So, in a nutshell, what started out as a  Fangtooth, has morphed into, simply, one butt ugly fish :-/. By this point, I thought, the hell with it, and added spots as well.

  2. OMG Kiva, you've done it again!! Gotta love him he looks so full of angst! Who wouldn't be, with teef like that.
Strange how a fish can be so much face and not much else.
You're going to have to start naming them soon.

  6. He kind of looks like an angler fish. But he's cuter and without the dangly light thing. Angler fish are pretty good sized. Maybe he lost his lure in a fish fight? At any rate he's fabulous. And congratulations on owning one of Kristy's cute opossums.

  7. I should have said "she". The females are 36 inches long and the males are 6 inches.

  8. OMG-He's AWESOME!!!!!!!! Better than I imagined! LOVE the teeth!!! And he's SUPER CUTEEEEEEE!!!!!! It's the big head, little body thing - equals instant cute, LOL. Truly a piece of art, Kiva.
Robin, it does kind of look like an angler. That might be a fun fish to make some time Kiva - but hard because I think it's got spiny things as well as the teeth (doesn't it?).

  12. Kiva, his eye looks like he's scaring himself!

I've seen a fish like that on the Planet Earth series. He is bizarre, and you did a marvelous job!

  13. I swear I have seen it in a movie before . YES! It's a piranha!? After this one, I don't think there are any other fishes that can faze you, Kiva. You can make them all, fangs, spikes and claws!

  14. LOL Sans....piranha, angler, butt ugly fish, fangtooth....they're all so similar anyway.

  15. LOL, Kristy, yes, all the same. I just went to wiki "angler fish" , do you know they are also called goosefish? What a harmless name. Do you agree with me though that Kiva has brought the fish up a few notches where "ugly" is concerned? Although she did try to soften that with seashell and a starfish..

  16. Yes, Kiva's fish is absolutely, perfectly UGLY (but in an oh so cute way) :D
Sans, if you want to see a bizarre (yet cute) sea creature, look up "piglet squid". I just discovered it today.

  17. Thanks for liking my hideous fish, guys!!! Hey, my little sister did think it was a Pirahna!! And her name is Rhana!!

OMFG, Kristy, I have NEVER seen a Piglet Squid before!!! That is THE cutest thing I've ever seen (next to boxfish and miniature seahorses)!!!! Speaking of which, when I was little, my sister and I had a tank full of miniature seahorses. I loved them!! did you know that the male seahorses give birth?? I saw them in action!! They grab onto a branch for support, puff up, then unleash a torrent of tiny babies!! Anyway, my parents went on vacation, so my grandparents came to watch us. We forgot to feed them (brine shrimp), so they ate eachother. I woke up one morning to an almost empty tank :-(.
