Thank you, Ira, for this award!! http://merryjingle.blogspot.com/

7 things peeps don't know about me:

1- My favorite band of all time is Depeche Mode, although I also love ambient, industrial, electronic, and embarassingly enough, cheesy music that I grew up with, like Journey. Plus, The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac.  And classic rock like Led  Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, etc.

2- I smoke like a chimney. The only way I can see quitting is being in a coma. I've tried.  BUT, I smoke on the patio, never inside or near where I'm working.

3- I don't really like making totally raw meat. I much prefer making stuff looked cooked. And this bugs me because someone recently asked me to make a ton of raw stuff. Rare? Hell yes! Raw? Meh.

4- I excercise every day, and have been, pretty much, for decades. It makes me feel healthier, and I don't feel so bad about eating fried food, which I adore. Nothing too strenuous, just a half hour on my stationary bike and some weight lifting. Lots of walking, too. Then, I can scarf.

5-  My favorite part of the turkey is the ass, aka, the tail. Then, I flip the bird over to get to the dark meat, much to everyone's chagrin. I am a hardcore dark meat eater.

6-  I hate having long ass lists of stuff to make. I shut down if I get too overwhelmed. I prefer to tackle things a few at a time, at the most.

7- I am high strung. Wait, is that something no one knew????

Raw clams

Unlike raw oysters, I CAN eat raw clams ;-). When I was a wee lass, I was in a seafood restaurant with the family. I was eating steamed clams and I put one in my mouth. Much to my horror, it was a bad clam and tasted like sh*t! So, I took it out of my mouth and put it in my mom's mouth. She gagged. I loved it!!

Look what turned up in Karin Caspar's wonderful hanging vignette!

Karin Caspar, as we all know, is a fantastic miniaturist (not to mention, a really swell gal), and I was tickled pink to find my wormy apples in this cool hanging box scene that she made! Thank you, Karin!! I LOVE it!!!

A basket of Challah and Bagels

A good customer of mine asked me to make a few bagels, so I got into it (which always happens when I make bread) and made a basket full of Challah and Bagels. I LOVE bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon!! And capers and onions!

Sardines

My gramps started me liking Sardines,  right from the tin. He usually caught fresh fish and fried it up for us, but one day he laid out an open tin with a side of rice, and I wolfed those suckers down! Just a bit of soy sauce (or shoyu, as well call it), and I was a happy camper ;-).

Holy cow!!!

Someone sent our friend Martha Puff a link to this ebay auction, then Martha sent it to my mom, who sent it to me. Check it out:

Hey, it's a basket of peaches!

I made these while in a trance-like state. Someone please wake me up!!

Oy. Here is a basket of Quince

And the burnout continues. I've been feeling a bit uninspired  lately. This will soon pass. When I am like this, I just go through the motions. Verrrrry slowly (except for the night before last when I tackled 15 jars of different jams at one time for a customer and threw 4 over the balcony). I usually attack stuff like no one's bidness, but not lately :-/.  I am going in for a coverup tattoo tomorrow (left back shoulder) and I am going to make it big! Maybe doing this will put some life back into me and spark something.

A shout out to my buddy Kathy Obrenski

Kathy is dipping her toe in the water again! This is her first listing on ebay in years! Yea Kathy!! It's a great looking pumpkin pie- perfect color and gorgeous shading on that crust. Can't expect any less from an artist who makes some of the MOST gorgeous desserts I've ever seen! Umm...Kathy, sorry for swiping your picture.

Because I had to fill the bare part of one of my ankles

Erm, while still trying to figure out the octopus/mermaid thing, I went out today and got a tatt on my inner right ankle. I wanted something with a shot of color since all my other tattoos on my ankles are, for the most part, black. Since I have a thing for classic rose tattoos, I went with another one. I thought about a lotus, but I just like the looks of roses better. First, I went back to the place where the guy embellished my boring butterfly, but he wasn't there. Instead, a youngish girl was going to take on the job. I remember her asking  the other guy about tattooing tips the last time I was there, so I told her I was going out for a smoke and hightailed it down the street. HELL NO!! My next stop was about 5 blocks away, to a tiny shop where some guy came highly recommended. But they told me to beware, because he might be ornery and do some yelling :-/. Well, he was a 300 (?) pound plus guy with a beard, covered with tattoos (like a fat Hell's Angel), and he turned out to be a real teddy bear. He also told me that he could fix the hideous tattoo I got on my back (left back shoulder) when I was a youngin', which I am very excited about. NO laser for me, thank God!! So yes, just a simple rose on my ankle today. I took a really crappy pick, though. The lighting sucked.

Mermaid or octopus??

I don't know which to get next, a mermaid or an octopus! I have ideas in my head but I haven't been able to find pics of exactly what I want. I've seen hints of ideas, but nothing really great. If anyone digs up some cool pictures, please let me know! I kind of like the  Bettie Pageish mermaid pic, but I don't want alot of boobage :-/. Here are a few I've found:
