Cheese board

A customer of mine asked me to make her several cheeses in a basket, so I went a little nuts and made this cheese board, too. And I have lots left over. I don't make cheese very often, but every time I do, I get really into it because there are endless varieites to make! You can just make something off the top of your head, and chances are, it exists
;-).

  2. HAHA!! Now that you mention it, Cindy...I do feel like something's missing! But I swear, once you start making them, it's kind of hard to stop. Admittedly, it seems kind of....boring?? But they're kind fun and you can make them REALLY fast, once you get going ;-). I had to stop myself....which is frequently the case when I get into doing something :-/.

  4. If I were a mouse, I would have been missing a few teeth trying to dig into THESE cheese!

  5. They are so beautifully real but have you ever walked into a cheese larder in a cheese shop? Cindy, there's a "stinky" cheese shop in Dempsey Road. If you are not a cheese fan, don't walk into the larder. I thought I love cheese until I walk in there. My friend thought I was rather uncool stumbling out and gagging. I apologise to all the connoisseurs here. But if you hate durians, you will know what I mean.

  6. Wonderful cheese board! It is almost the time for cheese boards here too. I can't wait to chomp on cheese! Your looks good but can't eat yours.

  7. Thanks guys! Because I brighten my pics so much, sometimes the textures get lost?? I swear, the Brie round has more texture than that. I'll have to remedy that somehow :-/.

Liza, lol!!! There would be tiny teeth embedded in the rind :-D!

Susan, I have never walked into a larder before, only a cheese shop. I can imagine wanting to gag, though! Is it like a vomit and fart bomb combo? I am not an intensely stinky cheese eater.

Betty, get cracking! I want to see some cheese!

  8. I love those cheeses! You just keep cranking out so many things! Can't wait til the 18th of this month! I'll be on break for a month and expect to be cranking out minis everyday! Even my little brother Sergio wants to help!

  9. Susan, reminds me of the time i walked by the back-then only store in SG that sold smelly tofu.

i thought a sewage pipe had burst somewhere -_-"

sorry to have hijacked your post Kiva! have you tried the smelly tofu stuff before? the thought of it is making me gag again ugh.

  10. Snowfern, this is Kiva's mom, Linda. I love that tofu! Just hold your nose and enjoy! I have a jar in the fridge with some very ripe tofu, a bit of chili thrown in to put it over the top! And you can throw any cheese at me, smelly or not, and I'll devour it! Aloha from warm sunny Hawaii!

  11. HAHA!! Cindy, I ENCOURAGE hijacking, are you kidding?? You are talking to someone who is always going off on different tangents ;-). That's what i like- a steady stream of consciousness (or unconsciousness in my case).

But it made me laugh when you brought up fermented tofu. Oh Laaaaawd!! Yep, gramps and mom, cracking open that jar of tofu. I had to leave the room. But, strangely enough, I loooove Chinese fermented fish (Ham Nee??). It is da bomb, but only when it's used judiciously, not heavy handedly. I won't eat it straight from the jar, but I do like it, say, as a component in egg white and dried scallop fried rice or something. Kind of like anchovies: just a little too much, and it's overkill....but just enough, and it can really elevate a dish to the next level.

  12. Sara, how cute is that?? Little bro wants to help :-D!! I tried getting my younger sister into it, but her attention span is too frigging short, lol! Several years ago, my ex-boyfriend always wanted to help (maybe because I ignored him for long stretches of time because I was too busy making miniatures ;-)). The only thing I trusted him to try doing was rolling grapes. I fired him after 15 minutes. I asked him to PLEASE find a hobby and get out of my face because his grapes were too big :-/. Now, I can honestly admit that the miniature making was one factor in the downfall of our relationship. I had a new boyfriend, and his name was Clay.

That's so great that you are finally getting a good chunk of time to devote to miniatures! Yea!!
