A "wave" of more creatures

This is a bulbous-headed Octopus in a bucket, Squid, Skate, Maori cod, and John Dory. There is a possibility that I might be going to Hong Kong. I've been making some pieces for a long time miniaturist, probably the first person I've ever seen make true Chinese food. She asked if I would be interested in being in a Chinese book about miniaturists, and fly to Hong Kong to promote it. I don't know all the details yet, but a trip to Hong Kong would be GREAT!! I visited when I was very young, so I don't remember much. I guarantee you that if I go, I will be stuffing my face 24/7!!

  7. You are THE best miniature food maker Kiva! I really think so. I haven't seen your sting ray looking things before. Oh, I guess they're called skate, I don't know my fish and seafood. Anyway, they are awesome! And of course, your octopus is super (and kinda cute).

  8. Last night, we brought Rosanna and Walter to a seafood restaurant and there's a pic of a fried fish in there that reminded me of you. I swear though that your clay ones look more real than that fish.

This is so freaking exciting! Do you speak Mandarin? Do you need a translator? *pointing to meself :). Most of them speak Cantonese. Anyhow, HK will be such a treat. Don't miss their desserts (tong sui- "sugar water") and tim sum and pork noodles. I love this artist Carrie Chau who does the cutest stuffed toys -not dollhouse, just regular. Check her out too :). Oh my, so many things to see there.

  11. Oh you guys!!!! I would totally love it!! Scared shitless because I would be going alone, yes....but worth it?? Hell yeah!! N othing is concrete, so we shall see!

Kristy buddy, that guinea pig of yours is BEYOND. The bangs on that little guy KILL ME. I am in love!

Listen Susan, if I do get to go, you are to hop on a plane (or boat??) and meet me there, because I won't know what the hell I'm doing!!! I don't speak a work of Chinese. Oh wait, maybe "dim sum". Also, it's something like a 14 hour flight. I need to ditch the Xanax and get ahold of some heroin, because that is INSANE.

  15. oh my goodness, how exciting! Kiva- sometimes the things that scare us the most are the experiences we remember for our entire lifetime :) I bet you would have the people in Hong Kong in love with you right away! Love your new food- I swear it's like going to a cooking blog when I visit instead of a miniature artist!

  18. You guys are so right- sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and do things that make you "uncomfortable". Oftentimes, it turns out to be MUCH scarier in your own mind then in real life. But hell, I might not even go, I don't know....this is still up in the air! What I DO know is that I WILL go to Singapore to visit you guys, sometime in the next year!!

  19. HK is 3 hours flight time to Singapore, 3 days by boat but I heard its a more scenic route ;).

YAY YAY YAY! To you coming here next year! I insist you stay with me. Even if mum is coming. My mum also has spare rooms if sis is coming too :).
