It started with melted cheese, and now, ends with beans! My Mexican run is coming to a close...I think ;-)!
There is one thing (among several) I miss about living in Los Angeles, and that's good Mexican and Cuban food. Although we have truly KILLER food here in Hawaiii, I have yet to find a decent Mexican restaurant. I've tried! Last week, I even went to a food truck that everyone raved and yelped about. OMG, so mediocre!!! Aaargh!!

Tacos
Here's one of my taco platters. They're very similar looking to the ones my mom makes, except her shells are crunchier. Lots of steps for making these puppies....and I always swear afterwards that I'm never making them again!! I'm a masochist (because I actually made a dozen :-/).

I'm on another little Mexican kick
Sorry I've been neglecting blogland!! I've been very busy and blogger has been driving me apeshit!
Well, you know the drill: once I make a certain thing, I have to keep going. It started with grilled cheese sandwiches, and I had a bunch of melted cheese left, so I thought, ok, nachos...then quesadillas, then....you get the picture ;-). It's funny but when my mom sees something I've made, she sometimes makes the real thing for dinner! This means I need to make tacos, because hers are killer!!

A fish skeleton pie and a freaky chicken
Ususally, when I make this fish pie, I add leaves in the shape of the "bones", but this time I made it look more like a skeleton. The other piece is a roasted chicken, with head and feet still attached. Must make weird food, but now I'm working on a couple normal things for a change ;-)!

My fab gift from Kathy, and some ridiculous coconuts
I wanted to show off this gift from Kathy Obrenski!! She gave it to me at the Chicago show, and wouldn't you know.....it's a tiered display of Halloween cookies!!! YAY!!!! Each piece is so lovingly made and so delicate- I love it!!!! Thank you, Kathy!!
The coconut heads are more weirdness from me ;-).

Drunken squid
These guys are doing what the big guy above is doing: getting blasted! I am in the mood to make a very freaky aquarium...puffers, drunken squid, maybe some of my oysters with eyeballs?? All submerged in a watery wonderland :-D!!
